What are you afraid of?

Don’t let fear hold you back from being your best self. What are you afraid of? Are you afraid that if you leave your current situation it could be worse? You've got a 50/50 shot. So, what if it is better? What if you hold back because you're comfortable?

Comfortable is fine. It's not good. And it's not great. Comfortable won't help you reach your goals.

Folks this isn’t a dress rehearsal... life is too darn short for what if's and fear... especially when you are TOTALLY IN CONTROL of your own destiny.

Do you think you'll look back 10 years and say, "Man... I wish I spent more time at that crummy job." No... of course not!

So figure out what’s stopping you and decide decide to take one positive step forward this weekend... just one. Will you update your resume? Will you set up a LinkedIn profile? Will you start putting out feelers to your network that you're considering a change? If you're a recent college grad, will you vow to contact your Career Services office to see how they might help?

Perhaps you'll start with the end goal in mind... I will have a new job by January 1. Ok. Great. So, what steps do you have to take to meet that goal? If you think you'll start the process Nov. 1 and be fine- you might, but chances are, you won't. You can certainly do your part, but you have no control over the timing of open jobs that will be a perfect fit for you, nor do you have control over an organization's interview process. And toss in the holidays... not likely it will all fall into place according to your plan.

Finding a new job is hard work. It takes purposeful action, organization, dedication and a plan that is worked and tweaked often.

Not sure where to start?

This is a baby step. And it won't cost you anything, but an hour or your time from anywhere you'd like.

So, I ask again- what's holding you back?
